27 November 2011 - Perth Road, Westdene

I left the first of these images un-cropped, so that you can see what it looks like to drive by on this road, on a clear summers day in Johanbnesburg.

It takes a closer, and even closer look, to see the details. Notice the Joburg skyline in the eyes.

Another wall on Perth Road.

These are two photos, not meant to be a Panoramic view.

The Star Grafitti wall - 23 October 2011

The Star grafitti wall located on the Corner of Jan Smuts and Empire road, Parktown, is a free for all sponsored grafitti wall. This is a prime advertising spot since the intersection is very busy. Every now and again it gets white washed, and then fills up very quickly with new Art,Grafitti and Ads.

This line: "Stroke the furry wall" is a quote from Aldous Snow in the movie Get Him To The Greek
The other line: "The Raging Whore Mones" is unkown, but similar to the punchline of the joke, What do teenage sluts have?

These are some other photos from the wall on this date:

Open Your Ears

I just love these! Someone with a message, left on a place you would never think to look, but you notice.

9th Street - Melville

This wall belongs to a residence on 9th street in Melville. I'm led to believe it may be an art school or similar. (I will update this, if I get any more information on it).

Barry Hertzog - Melville (part 2)

This is from the same location on Barry Hertzog road. I split the photos into 2 posts because there are so many, and I didn't capture everything.

Children of Wasted Sperm

Even the lamp posts are spray-painted

This is a Google Maps snapshot from earlier in the year. Copyrights are Google's. Tapz is a familliar tagging seen across all of Johannesburg.

I found this abandoned basketball court, on route to Barry Hertzog

Here are a few photos from one of the walls along this route.

Loch Avenue Stencil

This stencil cutout, very similar to the Banksy style can be found on a wall at the traffic circle on Loch Avenue, Parktown.

Noordwyk, Midrand - 8th Road

Noordwyk, Midrand - 8th Road - this broken down building can be seen from the road. I'd like to know what it used to be, the colours are bright and noticable. Although the condition up close is alot worse than it seems. Beva added his own touch of colour.

M1 - Woodmead

From Woodmead getting onto the M1 Highway South, this bridge provides cover for a homeless man. And home to this graffiti:

Bryanston- Petervale

This is a piece of graffiti that I see everyday on my way to work through the suburb of Petervale.
Its sprayed on a wall of an electricity station inside a park. This main pic is road facing. The other two, luckily, are not.

Two of the other walls:

Then a little further along my route. Bryanston road, there is this little gem, which fans of the rock band System of a Down will recognise as a lyric from the song: "Vicinity Of Obscenity"
I like it because of its location in an up-market neighborhood.

Joburg Zoo - Stencil

I havent seen alot of stencil art so far around the city, so I was very excited to find this one along the Johannesburg zoo wall.
The words are from a Poem by Dylan Thomas, Do not go gentle into that good night
